about

I had my four kids brought down to the studio for this one (this was before Savanna was born). My intention was to let them run around in the studio and record them just doing what they do, playing laughing, squealing. They were true to form. Squid, Jill and Jake are the ones heard, and it is Jake that provided the title for the song, talking about his friend Thomas, who had fallen in the water. Ben was always the quiet one, and when the kids were in the studio, he was in the control room with me. During the mixing of the record, he drew the picture of what would become the back cover insert.

lyrics

There they go
See how the children grow
One day I'll see
If any ghosts come back to torment me

Tomorrow's tears
I missed today the ones that I hold dear
Boys turn into men
And never seem to have the time again

Please don't go!
Did I tell you that I love you so?
No, please don't go!
Did I ever show you that I love you so?
